Next up in the Eliminator is Wish I Knew You, the 2016 immensely popular release by New Orleans rock band The Revivalists. And it’s weighted random opponent is Truly Madly Deeply by Australian pop duo Savage Garden from 1997, current #926.

Wish I knew you, also immensely popular, but from 2016, is like a fresher newer version of Truly Madly Deeply. Will this song last and be a popular thing 20 years from now? I doubt it. No way it survives that long on The Eliminator either. But what this song has going for it in this particular battle is currency and a shorter lifespan, along with just a good sounding vibe to it. It was #1 on the Adult Alternative charts. The Revivalists have followed this up with a 2018 song All My Friends and might evolve to more interesting music over time. But I like this song and it’s a good listen.
Wish I Knew You goes in at #895. Pretty low for a new entry to the Eliminator. But this song is just a lot more relevant today than Truly Madly Deeply, which is a song created in 1997 specifically to be eliminated in 2021.
