Born in 1969, I always felt that Gladys Knight was from an earlier era. But this song Midnight Train to Georgia has had a long long run from that era to this one. Gladys Knight is one of those artists who seemingly never quite leaves the scene. But for the Eliminator, this particular song is like the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, just way overplayed and overheard. It is time for it to go.
Hero was #1 on the adult alternative charts in 2015, and if there is one thing I have learned from this project it’s that the Eliminator is decidedly hardcore adult alternative as the dominant genre. I should almost name the project the Adult Alternative Eliminator, because that’s what it is turning out to be in many cases. I hope to prove otherwise, but we will see. But I’ve always really liked this song for its sound and the point of the songs. Turns out this song is from Boyhood, the 2014 growing up movie that was quite famous. Didn’t know that. But what a pretty pretty pop folk song this is.
Hero goes in at #486 (2,439 more listens). This is just a great simple song with an interesting lyric and mood that remains vibrant today, even if the song has been overplayed for six years already. As for Gladys Knight and the Midnight Train, that train is rolling to Elimination with this post.
