The Elimination: The Eliminator 1000 RARELY goes back in time. But this song Cuerpo Sin Alma, from 1975!, hit my playlists a while back, and I seriously thought it was a modern song that had been thrown together as a throwback by some modern artist. NOPE. This is just new to me. In a way, I’m disappointed that this song is so old because to my ears it sounds like a lot of the modern traditionalesque fusion happening in central and south american music and I’m listening to these days, like Lido Pimienta and La Muchacha. There’s a bit of Rosalia here too, and it makes me wonder if all these artists heard this song as kids. Anyway, this is a fun basic song and probably should be remastered and redone by a modern artist. The way these kids did this vocal was SO great.
Rhiannon is another song that is SO overheard. You can walk into 5 grocery stores today and you are practically guaranteed to hear this song. Out of the Fleetwood Mac megahits this one is kind of my least favorites, the least interesting musically for me. What even is Rhiannon? I guess we will never know. But this is one of the classic 1970s pop rock hits. Now that we have gotten to 50 more listens on my scorecard, meaning I think you could still listen to this song 50 more times and still add value to your life, I’m not totally done with this song. But you can definitely benefit more from hearing Cuerpo Sin Alma even if it is old, unless you are Mexican in which case you have probably heard Cuerpo Sin Alma too much.
Cuerpo Sin Alma goes in at #920 (416 more listens). Rhiannon is Eliminated!
