The Elimination: My friend Dan listens to a lot of different music, and he recommended this song as a kind of earworm. And it IS that. This song is hard to get out of your head and it puts you in a kind of mood right away. Interesting. I do have a different Gang of Youths song in the Eliminator 1000 already, also thanks to Dan. But this one is really a fun good listen, kind of perfect for the lead singer. Call out to Gang of Youths for bringing in the Manu Chao type multilingual sound bytes into this song. I totally agree this song is worth putting on repeat going forward. Because of the large amounts of string repetition in the song, we will see how long this song lasts in this project, but for now this is definitely a fun listen.
I Shot the Sheriff, on the other hand, is one of those songs that I am absolutely exhausted of. Another of those classic songs I put in the initial list when I was uncertain if I was trying to put in the greatest songs or not. I Shot the Sheriff is arguably one of the greatest songs of all time in terms of lasting impact. It certainly is up there on many greatest songs of all time lists. And Eric Clapton is the kind of artist that needs to leave the Eliminator 1000 as soon as possible, due to his bad politics these days. Not a fan, and his two remaining songs in the playlist are in deep trouble soon.
Achilles Come Down goes in at #784 (1,009 more listens). I Shot the Sheriff is Eliminated!
The Eliminator 1000 is a music refresh project, based on the idea that a really long playlist of truly outstanding songs can still be continually improved for the future listen.
